Empire Place Quilt – Project#2

I’m decided to try something I’ve been wanting to try for a couple years now. I joined a Block of the Month (BOM) club. For a monthly fee I receive a pattern and fabric to make a few blocks each month. The quilt club I joined is hosted by Rossville Quilts in Rossville, IN.

Check it out! And join along with me if you’d like. I’m sure there is still time.

So far I’ve cut out all of the fabric for my first two block and two border pieces. I was shorted a tiny bit of fabric from one block but the quilt shop was super responsive and helpful with correcting the issue. They said they’d send me the additional fabric asap. I’m really impressed with them so far.

Anyway – my brag of the week is that I am super impressed with myself for how I’ve organized my cut fabric.

I am pinning the fabric with labels to the portable design boards that I made a couple weeks ago. See: https://wordpress.com/post/acuriousquilter.wordpress.com/49

This makes it sooooo much easier to piece. Plus the organization just gives me all sorts of happy feels. 🙂

Gravity Quilt: 2016 Project #1

I’m SUPER excited about this project. I bought the kit for the Gravity Quilt from Craftsy on sale. I think I paid $111 for it which is a steal.

I’ve never worked with precut fabrics before so I’m finding these layer cakes to be a real treat. They are so much easier to work with. I may be a convert…. There is something so delicious about a newly starched piece of fabric. It is just so ….. cooperative. 🙂

I was so excited to get this in the mail but when I went to open the the parcel lockbox the lock was jammed…. I was pretty bummed. I had been tracking this package all day thinking that I’d be able to play with my fabrics right away after getting home from work. Ugh. So I waited (impatiently) for my husband to get home. He promised he’d get my package out and he did…. But he broke the lock… So I’m really hoping the post office doesn’t charge us for it….

I was happily starching, ironing, cutting, and piecing within moments of him bringing my kit in with only a minor break to deal with a tantrum when SLM realized that it wasn’t a present for her.

Anyway – here are my first two block all done. I’m looking forward to completing two more tonight… As long as I don’t get sucked into watching Making a Murderer with DH.

Oh, and on a side note; this is Finnegan. He needs a home. He is the sweetest most bombproof pittie I’ve ever met. I got to hang out with him on Saturday while volunteering at an adoption event. If anyone is interested in adopting him let me know and I’ll put you in touch with his adoption coordinators. He gets around really well with and without the wheel chair. The wheel is mainly to delay arthritis in his remaining front leg since it is also damaged.

I’m Back!!!!

I have been totally slacking on the posts lately but I plan on changing that in 2016. I have two really great projects that I hope to get done.

But here is my first completed project for the year. It’s not a quilt but it is for quilting.

I made portable design boards and I love them!!!! No more piecing mistakes that start en route to the sewing machine from the cutting table.

I used a tutorial I found here:

Super easy. Super fast. Super cheap. Super useful.
